This unique hotel, The Ice Hotel Quebec, is made of ice!. The hotel opened on January 1 this year and will operate until the end of this month, when it is expected to melt. The hotel has six suites, reasonably priced at around $100 a night, constructed from 450 tons of ice and 2,500 tons of snow.

Only 20 miles from Kono International Airport on the Big Island of Hawaii. Access is easy, just turn left at the airport entrance and head 18 miles north. Rental cars are available from the airport and there's a Budget Rent a Car site at the hotel. If getting to the resort by taxi, it's only a 20 minute drive but expect a taxi fare of around $42 (USD).

Millennium Hotel, Sydney, Australia

Until recently this was the Hyatt Hotel Sydney, a landmark property and gateway to Kings Cross. Our midweek arrival was greeted by bell staff who collected our luggage and directed us to the first floor reception. A friendly welcome, prompt check-in and up to the allocated room. There are 390 rooms in the hotel, some with panoramic views over the Sydney city and harbour.

Metro Hotel and Suites
Melbourne, Australia

Right from our arrival the Metro Hotel and Suites had an air of friendliness, near ‘newness’ and a sense that the property was manned by a friendly and efficient team. The hotel has an excellent presence just down from the MCG (the Melbourne Cricket Ground) and a few minutes walk from the center of the city. The Melbourne Hilton is almost directly opposite.

The Hyatt Regency Almaty is a near new luxury hotel situated in the central business district of Almaty near the Exhibition Center, and overlooking the city and the impressive Alatau Mountain range. The hotel is 10 miles from the international airport and 6 miles from the main train station. All office buildings and tourist attractions in the city are within a 10 minute drive.
