This unique hotel, The Ice Hotel Quebec, is made of ice!. The hotel opened on January 1 this year and will operate until the end of this month, when it is expected to melt. The hotel has six suites, reasonably priced at around $100 a night, constructed from 450 tons of ice and 2,500 tons of snow. For its first year of operation, the Ice Hotel has been built at the Montmorency Falls Park, right next to Manoir Montmorency, a distinctive gastronomic table in the Quebec City region. Accessibility is more than convenient as the site is situated a mere 10 minutes drive from historic downtown Quebec with its main tourism attractions and fine tables.
The hotel was inspired by the famous Ice Hotel in Jukkasjarvi in Sweden, which has been built each year for the past 10 years.
The ceilings are 16 feet high, the walls are covered with original artwork, furniture carved in ice blocks. Just like its counterpart in Sweden, Ice Hotel Quebec has two art galleries, a movie theatre and the famous Absolut Ice Bar. The Absolut Ice Bar caters for up up to 300 people and (of course) is sponsored by Absolut Vodka.
Covering a total surface of 1000 square meters (10,000 square feet), the Ice Hotel is one of the most unusual and complex construction undertakings. In fact, it took just five weeks to build this feat of architecture. You will be amazed by the sheer size of the Grand Hall with its superb ice candelabra. Its majestic ice columns and the delicate beauty of the shimmering carved walls will undoubtedly leave you breathless. As in Sweden, guests must snuggle into sleeping bags on top of animal fur to stay warm in their beds, which are made of (you guessed it) ice.

How to get there ? Situated 9 kilometres east from downtown Quebec city, the Montmorency Falls Park can be reached by Ste-Anne boulevard (route 138) from Quebec City, or by the "Autoroute de la Capitale" (highway 40).
